Southern Expressway (Sri Lanka)

Southern Express Highway is Sri Lanka’s first E class Highway.
Its construction was began in 2006. The expected cost for this project was $600 million.                                                                               
It is 126 Km long will link the Sri Lankan capital Colombo with Matara.
The expressway reduces the time taken to travel from Colombo to Matara to one and a half hours from the current four hours.
Some 1300 families have been moved because of the project.
It is maintained by Road Development Authority.
